Tresha Glenister is a fine art photographer newly based in Providence, Rhode Island. She grew up in Savannah, Georgia, but completed her BFA in Graphic Design at Georgia State University. She remained in Atlanta after college enjoying the vibrant arts community, but missed the architectural charm of Savannah and the sand beneath her toes. In the historic city of Providence, she's found the perfect marriage of coastal and city living. Tresha is excited to be living in the creative capital with an abundance of opportunities to grow as an artist while enjoying a new phenomenon called winter.

Tresha is a self-proclaimed professional dabbler, having worked in a comedy club, a photography gallery, and corporate finance — all of which have influenced her eclectic portfolio to various degrees. Tresha has exhibited in private and non-profit galleries around the southeast, as well as the occasional festival. Her work has been purchased for private collection and for a major motion picture.

My Work

I see life through a viewfinder. All the time. I can't seem to turn off the part of my brain that is incessantly framing my surroundings. I have more photos than I will admit to anyone. I see a random interesting object on the ground and I tell myself to keep walking. But I can't. I circle back and take a photo (or ten) because inevitably I'll discover another photo in my ever-growing library that forms a perfect diptych with that one.

When I'm still, I ruminate. My mind spins with ideas and images for new projects. Ideas that I find curious. Or humorous. Or abstract. I enjoy exploring these ideas through digital editing and I love creating work sprinkled with off-kilter elements.

I like reading stories and I like telling stories. I like taking photos that remind me of a particular period of time or place that brings these stories to life.  I like mystery and humor and unusual angles. I love light and shadows and the mood that unfolds by the convergence of the two.

I take photos because I don't know how to not take photos. Addiction or passion? Sometimes I'm not sure.
